A small app, all the way to release
I wanted to find out whether I could take an app from an idea through to App Store approval on my own, with coding-agent assistance. A study app kept the scope manageable and gave me something I might use for my own cybersecurity studies.
The released app brings scenario-based questions together with separate study and exam modes. A readiness dashboard gives the learner another view of their preparation.
An app people can install
CipherRank was approved and released on the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. That answered the question I started with: I could build a working app and get it through the release process.
I owned the scope, product decisions and release, using coding agents to help with development. Keeping the idea simple gave me room to learn the process and finish it.
Where I stopped
I also built out a question-generation pipeline and got it successfully calling a Cloudflare Worker. I couldn’t get generation working reliably within the API token budget I had, so I decided to stop pursuing it. That experiment remained separate from the released app’s curated question content.
